Thank you very much for your question. As reported, If your scar is high, there is a likelihood that your scar may rise even higher over time. A scar takes an average of 12 -18 months to mature. However, after 3 months if you are still not happy with the position of the scar and have laxity (looseness of the skin), your plastic surgeon may do another surgery to lower the scar. In other cases, if the tissue laxity is inadequate, you may have to go the extreme option; tissue expanders. Your plastic surgeon may place tissue expanders in the areas below your belly button, stretch your skin overtime to gain more skin and tissue, lower the scar and advance the recruited skin and tissue towards the  pubic area. Hence, lowering the scar.

1. Ask your plastic surgeon if he/she is board certified by the american board of plastic surgery
2. Make sure the surgical facility that your plastic surgeon is using is accredited

Thank you very much for your question. Without knowing where you started prior to the procedure, it is difficult to give you a good answer.  I must ask, is this a panniculectomy or a tummy tuck? If your “after” photo displays the results of a panniculectomy, thank your plastic surgeon because he/she did a good job. However, if you are displaying the results of a tummy tuck, you should discuss the results with your plastic surgeon to see what more can be done.

As your surgeon, I  will perform your surgery in two stages. First, liposuction to deflate the bulges (reduce the fatty tissue). And the second stage, I will remove the extra skin in the form of a tummy tuck, 3 months after your first surgery.

The next step is to follow up with your surgeon and hopefully cultures of the wound can be obtained. Empiric antibiotics in my view is warranted. I also recommend to tell your plastic surgeon if you are having any of these signs or symptoms such as, fever, nausea, or chills. Lastly, make sure to check with your doctor as soon as possible.
