The New Trend In Double Eyelid Surgery

Cosmetic surgery, as with other types of surgical procedures, is constantly evolving to provide effective options for patients wishing to make changes to their face and body. Not all types of cosmetic surgeries are universal in nature, and a very specialized type of procedure now offered at MiKO Plastic Surgery is double eyelid surgery.

This specialized surgical procedure, which is also called Asian blepharoplasty, or Asian double eyelid surgery, is used to create the fold along the upper eyelid that is found in western people, but not always found in Asian eyes. Asian upper eyelids tend to have a fatty deposit that keeps the upper lid smooth and without a crease.

This formation of the eyes is also seen by many Asian women as a look that creates a smaller eye. By having the surgery and creating the fold in the upper lid, the eyes naturally look fuller and more open, with the ability to use eyeliner and makeup to further enhance the look and shape of the eye.

What to Understand

The double eyelid surgery performed at MiKO Plastic Surgery by Dr. Obeng is a relatively short procedure and typically is finished within an hour. The procedure does not leave any visible scars and requires a very small incision which depends on the individual patient’s eye shape and current eyelid condition.

It is very important to meet with Dr. Obeng well in advance of any planned procedure. He can discuss the process with you, including your recovery timeline, and discuss any other cosmetic surgery you may wish to have done at the same time.

For most people, the recovery time will be about ten days to two weeks. During that time, you will need to limit your activity and carefully follow the post-surgical recommendations.
